Jack Oliver Griffiths was born at 05:00am on Wednesday 30th April 2008 at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor,
North Wales. Sadly when he was born he was diagnosed with a a diaphragmatic hernia and was rushed
to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, where he passed away the following Morning 1st May
2008.
We did not know that Jack was poorly until he was born, at first they told us that he had a hernia
and would be operated on later that day or the following morning, we started to relax a bit after
hearing this news. Then within 15 mintes our lives were torn apart agian, the doctors told us that
Jack's condition was a lot more serious then originally thought, they explained what Jack had, but
to be honest at that time we didn't take anything in all we wanted was to be with our beautiful son.
At about 08:30am we saw Jack before he was taken to Alder Hay, it was so hard to see our son lying
there, knowing that there was nothing we could do. Shorlty afterwards we followed Jack to Alder
Hay, I don't think we spoke two words to each other all the way there, we were in such shock.
When we arrived we had to wait a while until Jack had settled, we were told that he was extremely
poorly, and that the journey over had not helped, we were told to prepare for the worst.
At 04:00am on the following day we got a call from the ward asking us to come over straight away as
Jack was getting worse, I remember feeling so tired as I had only given birth the day before and had
not rested since then, but something took over and my strength came back. While we were at Jack's
side, the consultant came over and told us that Jack was getting weaker and weaker. We phoned for
my parents to come over so that they could see their grandson one last time, it took them nearly two
hours to get and our brave little man hung on for his Nain and Taid.
Jack then told us that the time had come and we turned off his machine, we held him in our arms
until he fell asleep. That time with him was so special, I'm just glad that Jack told us that he
had had enough, because I don't think we could of made that decision.
Jack has a sister Lucy and brother Cai. Although they only had a short time with Jack he will live
on in there hearts forever.
JACK'S POEMS
Jack was so very, very special
And was so from the start
We held him in our arms
But mainly in our hearts
And like a single drop of rain
That on still waters fall,
His life did ripples make
And touched the lives of all.
He's gone to play with angels
In heaven up above
So we’ll keep our special memories
And treasure them with love
Although our darling son
Was with us just a while
He'll live on in our hearts
With a sweet remembered smile
Miss you so much sweetheart
Lots of hugs and kisses,
Daddy, Mummy, Lucy & Caixxxxxxxx
